Former UH QB creates FB tourney
As the punsters say, quarterbacks’football dreams don’t die, they just pass away.
Former UH quarterback Bryan Moniz, channeling Roger Goodell and Ice Cube, has launched a 7-on-7 football tournament today at Leilehua High. The five high school teams — Aiea, Mililani, Leilehua, Damien and Kapolei — will play a round round beginning at 10 a.m. After that, the teams will be seeded for a championship round.
The basic rules are this: 1) 25-minute running time, with each team allotted timeouts. 2) Two-hand touch.
A concession stand offers such items as teri burgers, nachos, chili and shave ice.
Moniz said he has run 7-on-7 tournaments for high school grads. But one of the goals was to create a tourney for prep teams. The target date was last month, but many of the schools were involved in pass leagues, delaying the tournament until today.
“Staying busy, man,” Moniz said of his involvement. “We’re finding ways to give back.”
Moniz hopes to expand the field — and venues — for future tournaments. He said Farrington High’s newly renovated field would be a preferred venue.
First?
‘Attaway to give back.

Thanks Islandman for posting #5. Great recruiting by Rolo.
Luv the name of the 6’2″ 225 lb running back from Arkansas:
Hekili Keliliki. 🙂
#6….you robbed the young man of one “I”. It’s Keliiliki. Almost like our other bruising RB from the past…Wes Keliikipi.
Morning Tsaikos!
MBB news: 6′ 11″ Australian center commits. Will enroll after he graduates from high school in December and redshirt next spring. UH beat out St. Mary’s.
islandman, #5. Nice list but heard that a small number did not qualify or will not be playing for UH this year. Do you know who they are?
