CFL teams cut Owens, Moniz

Oh, what the heck, Canada?

The pro careers of receiver/returner Chad Owens and quarterback Bryant Moniz are on hiatus after the former Warriors failed to make Canadian Football League rosters this past weekend.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders cut Owens and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats released Moniz.

Owens, who was limited to three games last year, did not play in the Roughriders’ final preseason game after reportedly suffering a shoulder injury. Even at 36, Owens still is fit enough for another couple seasons. And, come on, the Roughriders cutting a former Rough Rider? Not cool.

The odds of Moniz sticking were reduced dramatically when when Johnny Manziel joined as Hamilton’s fifth QB. Here’s the breakdown of the two preseason games:
> Johnny Manziel: 2 games, 21-for-31, 168 yards, 1 TD, 0 Int
> Dale Evans: 2, games, 11-for-17, 143 yards, 0 TD, 0 Int
> Jeremiah Masoli: 1 game, 8-for-13, 115 yards, 1 TD, 2 Ints
> Bryant Moniz: 1 game, 3-for-7, 17 yards, 0 TD, 1 Int.
> Vernon Adams: Did not play

very lucky to be on holiday status today!

remember, King Kamehameha united all the islands, but did not conquer Kauai — there is a legend that his warriors landed where the Hyatt Regency is located today, but were so tired that they rested on the beach — along came the Kauai natives who smashed their heads

it is said that there are a lot of bones to be found if you did into the sand and many have heard someone whistling among the iron wood trees at night — others have said that they hear a male voice saying, “help me, help me”

OK, time to help clean house!

Maybe Jones will get Manziel to the NFL. Too bad about Moniz.

Hope we see mighty Mouse for a couple of more seasons.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

Why get more injuries and head jostling at 36 ?

June has quite a stable of Dual threat QBs.

I think Adams is on the trading block, If he hasn’t been traded already

The plus news is Alex Green appears to have made Hamilton’s roster. He played in one preseason game, rushing for 29 yards. But that was the most for a Tiger-Cat this preseason. And 29 rushing yards in a JJ run-and-shoot equates to 85 yards in a traditional offense

How many UH players are on CFL rosters?

Stephen, don’t expect you to have all things Warrior, but any insight on arrival schedules for new signees. I figure there’s about 20 of them still to arrive-anything? GoWarriors!!!!

Chicken Grease, your an idiot. No need to get political when we have all been embarrassed enough by our “leader’s” reprehensible treatment of the Canadians and the rest of our true allies.

Mr. Tsai, why did you allow Chicken Kasu to return as he caused significant disruption to this blog while having a Trump-like hissy fit? Just wondering.

Chicken Kasu you’re just a joke.

Heard Isaia Leeth is taking time off to get healthy. Hope everything is ok with him.

Even ______________(insert name of UH coach you dislike) prepared.

  18. cappie the dog June 11, 2018 6:04 pm

    Chad Owens.

If only he got the butterflies out of his stomach before that opening game with Jacksonville, he would have had a different career.

Once and awhile, I watch his Northwestern and Michigan State performances on YouTube.

Nothing wrong with being a CFL star, though.

He and his family are set for life.

    3.

Kamehameha would have made his wife clean the house by herself.

Kamehameha II would have pitched in. (I think he got rid of the eating “kapu”.)

#3 – Mr. A-House, I hope the voices that people heard were speaking in Hawaiian. If not they weren’t real.
