Camp reflections
Nick Rolovich came away with a few observations from the past weekend’s Elite Camp, such as:
> It was elite: “You’re probably talking about 95 percent of the best football players in the state were at the camp,” Rolovich said. “You’re going to hear a lot of those names being called at this year’s high school football games.”
> Future Warriors? “Toward the middle of the camp, I’ve never been more convinced that the majority of our recruiting class could very well come from guys at that camp,” Rolovich said. “And the connection our staff has with a good group of local recruits is special. … There are a lot of good relationships being built.”
> We all can get along: “I appreciate the (mainland) coaches who came over,” Rolovich said. “At first, you don’t want to let anybody in to help. The reality is, with more than 300 kids, you can’t effectively run a camp without help. Our staff couldn’t handle those numbers by themselves. The coaches came over and did a great job, not just sitting back and enjoying a vacation.”
> Benefits for all: “I hope so,” Rolovich said of the campers who attended to improve their football skills. “There were plays right out of our playbook for 7-on-7 and team periods. One of the greater things they’ll come out there with is confidence, that they belong. The best players in the state were there. I bet there were 50 kids who went there nervous as heck and came out feeling ‘I just competed with the best guys the state has to offer.’ You can talk about fundamentals and knowledge of the game, but that self confidence is important to a lot of kids. That helps, too.”
GOOD MORNING, HAWAII!
For basketball fans, Alberts narrowed his list to LBSU, Weber St and VCU.
Weber State?
Yeesh.
Re: Alberts…No biggie. If he doesn’t want to come here, then good riddance. I’d rather have a less talented player with a desire to play here versus someone looking for “greener pastures. Next man up…
Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Good to hear about the contact being made. Hoping the confidence can translate to a signature on the dotted line. 808 boyz take Pride in the Rock!
IMUA WARRIORS!
According to, Verbal Commits site:
Prepster, Max Guinn 6’5″ SG (2*) has recieved offer from Hawaii.
Alot of either, pg or sg offers no??
3. Stephen, Weber St averaged 6,869 attendance this past season.
6. Max G’s offer is for 2019.

Drew Kobayashi is transferring out from Cal, per another site.
Weber State plays in a 11,500 seat arena that has hosted the NCAAs in the past. They used to average more during their heydays during the 70s – 80s.
Read that Fred Salanoa resigned from his new job as the OC at Eastern Washington (his alma mater). The distance being away from his family and probably the low pay played a role in his decision. Too bad.

Sidea note, but wondering …
ST, I recall Farrington QB, Justin Uahinui, saying he was going to walk on at UH (I thought preferred). Did he? For anone that follows, that kid can sling it. He regularly shined at camps as a high schooler. Unfortunately, transferred to a difficult QB situation at Farrington.
Anyone know if he ended up at UH?

I believe he is at UH…. If he was at a different high school I believe he would have shined and show his passing skills. Because Farrington is so run heavy he couldn’t show what he got.
Marking the end of B-Ball Season with this observation. Say Lebron moved to become a GSW (with a pay cut of course) and they went on to win 4 straight titles giving him 7. Would that make him the greatest player ever? I say he doesn’t need to.
…and Go Bows.
Time to think UMass trip!!
Nice to see some familiar names here today. Hope we see a bunch of the big names at the camp on our roster in coming seasons.
Gotta love the way Rolo looks at things.
It can’t be Virginia Commonwealth.
The idea of transferring from a talent-laden squad was to start immediately.
Weber State makes the most sense out of the three schools that Alberts cited.
Weber State, sadly, is probably equivalent to Hawaii. Long Beach State, presumably, has more talent than Weber State.
I predict Alberts will choose Weber State.
So in the graduate transfer’s mind, we’re on par with Florida International.
4.
I agree.
Let’s get behind Brocke Stepteau.
I found a way to fund the next helmets…. easy money. Vegas saying 4 w’s only this year
