At the buzzer

We all know the buzzer beaters.

They’re the ones who sign up without knowing which activity is being scheduled. On game shows, they hit the buzzer before the host reads the full question.

Host: “In the Michael Jackson song … ”
Buzzer Beater: “Thriller!”
Buzzer Beater’s family: “Good answer, good answer.”
Host: “… did he do a duet with Paul McCartney.”
Buzzer Beater: “Oops.”

In college football, the BB is ESPN.

After the Mountain West teams finalize their schedules, ESPN gets first pick on which games to take. ESPN grabbed the Sept. 23 game between Hawaii and Wyoming in Laramie. Thing is, ESPN has until Sept. 10 to decide the starting time and which property the game will air. If the game is shown on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN News, it could start between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Mountain time and end, well, the next day. If it will be shown on ESPN3, it could start as early as noon. The time/network won’t be determined until after gauging the teams’ performances over the next two weeks. Meanwhile, this disrupts travel plans and fans’ schedules.

Last year, five of Boise State’s six home games started at 8:15 p.m., with none earlier than 7 p.m. Since 2013, 17 of the Broncos’ 23 home games kicked off after 8 p.m. ESPN will show five of six BSU home games this season. Two already have been set for 6 p.m. But the other three are listed as TBA.

Does the television exposure outweigh inconvenience to the fans? At the MW Media Summit, there was a discussion whether playing a money game on the road might be more beneficial to a team than the TV payout. The answer to this debate is, of course: Stay tuned.

Vote! Hero of the week… Vote today, tomorrow, Daily! Dru Brown or John Ursua for Offense AND Jahlani Tavai for Defense. Let our warriors know we are rooting for them.. Whootah!

madeinhawaii – can you or anyone else have Jahlani Tavai’s stats

upgraded to include “13 tackles” ? This would really help him in the
    voting.

    Thanks.

Boise starts home games at 8:15 pm?
We don’t want to do that– it could bring another 4-5 thousand more to the stadium. Think of the parking problem and congestion… 🙁

World Wide Travel made arrangements to have a late lunch/early dinner at the “Commons” cafe at Amherst and it lived up, IMHO, to be rated as the best college/university cafeteria in the USA.

food was excellent as was the service and “decor” absolutely above and beyond many, many commercial restaurants

our tour group numbered around 160 and the cafe staff got “bombed”.

school began on 8/28/17 so very few students around.

family asked me to leave the stadium with 5 minutes left and I refused to budge — lucky I was correct!

    “The Girl is Mine”
    “Say, Say, Say”

Paul McCartney also contributed a song to the “Off the Wall” album.

    “Girlfriend”

Jackson was a pretty ruthless guy. He bought The Beatles catalog. Remember when “Revolution” was used in a Nike ad? That wasn’t McCartney’s idea.

  22. al August 31, 2017 8:00 pm

Every year I purchase a new Warrior polo shirt and a t-shirt in support of the program.
This year the selections are just awful. Whoever was in charge of design really fell short and whoever approved the final designs is equally to blame.

I’ll bet sales will be well off the projections because the lack of accessible retail outlets must also hinder walk up buyers.

    …nuff said

When you click on the Spectrum link, it does not yet show the game info. They may show it later on Saturday before the game. When i watched the Wahine volleyball game stream last night the stream info was showing kind of late, before the game .

    Morning Tsaikos!
Live streaming of UH games produced by Spectrum Sports is supposed to be on the Mountain West Conference app. I downloaded the app and there’s a tv icon in the upper right corner. There’s nothing available now so might have to check on game day. In the meantime I’ll play with the app periodically to see how it works. Will let you know.

Cindy’s blog has no place to enter comments on her recent topics.

One of Ms. Luis’s blog entries from yesterday (kinoo desu as said in Japanese language 🤗) specified the reason here [ http://www.hawaiiwarriorworld.com/rainbow-wahine-volleyball/links-for-thursday-hal-matches/ ]: “Sorry no live blog tonight
Borrowed laptop doesn’t have blog capability”

Note that this coincides with a mention on yesterday’s (also “kinoo“) mention on ESPN 1420 AM’s The Sports Animals show that Coach Ah Mow apparently has told her players to not read certain social media comments.

    🙄

  34. Maddog50 September 1, 2017 7:30 am

Islandman first you find the game notes for me now the event schedule! Thanks my friend! I will check periodically for updates. I used to pay the 12 bucks to OC sports and I’ve watched the MW connection for some games. Last year I watched a patchwork of technology using a local sling box sent to Wesr Coast to be broadcast on Face Book watched via a google hangout!!!!!! Man I just want to see the game………

  35. islandman September 1, 2017 7:32 am

38.No live blog, but that is not supposed to affect her daily blog stuff.
    38. Per article of Aug 30, volleyball coach asked her players to stay off of social media.
