    Huzzah for the 2007 team!

    1st, too!

I lost count of the times I have heard, “It is a tiny state. Have your relatives evacuated their homes? Is the lava closeby?” I resorted to showing people a map of the state. Still, some very puzzled looks.

At least no comments about the thatched huts.

    I miss Colt Brennan.

Does anyone know how Colt is doing and where he is? He was just awesome! Unfortunate that he didn’t get a fair shot in the NFL, ended up with the wrong coach @ Washington.

Congrats to 2007 team and the other inductees. It took a long time for the 2007 team, 11 years.
Even longer for Skippy Dyer, who played in 1955 and 1956, 62 years ago. Two way player, great shifty and fast running and defensive back. Also played baseball and ran track at UH.

Congrats to the 2007 Football Warriors and thanks for the memories. I wonder if we’ll ever see another team make such an impact on the community?

ST, one small typo. Should be “Aaron” Kia.

” A three-sport letterman in football, baseball, and track and field, James “Skippy” Dyer was best known for his two seasons with the Rainbow football team. He once held school-records with an 87-yard run versus Fresno State in 1955 and 95-yard kickoff return for touchdown against Oregon in 1956.
He was a member of the 1955 squad that upset Nebraska, 6-0 in Lincoln, Neb., considered one of the greatest upsets in school history.
He played halfback, defensive back, kick-off return and punt return and was picked No. 25 on the Honolulu Star-Bulletin’s Centurions list, celebrating the Top 100 players in Hawai’i football history.
He was also one of the best sprinters in the state and later played for the Milwaukee Braves organization, becoming just the third UH player at that time to sign a MLB contract.”

Who has the second highest on-base percentage?

    Eric Ramirez.

    .430

He should have never been taken out of the starting lineup to begin with.

I’m not a big analytics guy, but I do believe that on-base percentage is more important than batting average.

Ramirez has a shot at overtaking Kekai Rios.

    .441

Ramirez has a higher on-base percentage than the lead-off hitter.

    .411

  18. LoveWarriors2007 May 6, 2018 9:52 pm

Mitch Farney – RS WR (died soon after Sugar Bowl)

  19. clyde May 6, 2018 10:26 pm

Cappie: Fair point about Ramirez, whom I thought was in the coaches’ doghouse. I’m glad he got a couple key hits the past two games.

That said, his .229 batting average is only better than three players on the team (Murray, Kakugawa, Sniffin). His OBP is high because he leads the team in walks. I keep hearing from announcers that coaches want Ramirez to be more aggressive at the plate rather than settling for walks. Guess they want a guy who’s 6-0, 230 to pack more oomph in his bat. But what do I know. Gotta ask Stephen.
