Gameday: Cal State Fullerton
Five in a row?
That’s what the Hawaii basketball team must accomplish if it is to remain in first place in the Big West Conference after tonight. With Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara hovering just behind UH at two losses each, the Rainbow Warriors have to keep taking care of business at home to remain in the pole position coming up on the league halfway mark.
UH (13-5, 4-1 BWC) should be back to full strength with Brocke Stepteau back in the lineup. He was a full participant in practices this week leading into the finale of a four-game homestand.
Check that: Stepteau, if anything, will come off the bench tonight. Sounds like there’s some lasting discomfort with his shooting hand. Leland Green gets the starting nod.
UH must contain Fullerton’s scoring trio of Kyle Allman (17.7 ppg), Khalil Ahmad (15.5) and Jackson Rowe (12.5) to the best of their ability.
The Bows are favored by six.
Before the game, the Wahine basketball team snapped a three-game slide with a must-have 63-57 victory over UC Riverside. The Highlanders were without their top scorer in Michelle Curry, so it wouldn’t have been good at all if UH dropped another one at home in that circumstance.
The quick recap on that is here.
Why are these never posted before tip-off?
Buggs taking the last shot reminds me of how Deonte Tatum would take the last shot.
It all went south after Gibson Johnson missed that open layup.
Disappointing, but at least we’re not Michigan State.
Barak,
Usually I wait until a few minutes before tipoff to post them so I can gather up-to-tipoff intel from the game, take a picture from warm-ups, etc. This one was slightly later on posting because I was caught up helping our coverage for UH women’s basketball that immediately preceded the men’s game. I will try to get them up a bit sooner, though.
Lose money. We let dem off the hook!!!
Hope this one does not come back to bite us
