Highly regarded RB/LB visited UH

Toa Taua, a 4-star running back/linebacker from Lompoc (Calif.) High recently took an unofficial visit to UH. Taua, who will be a senior this year, is 5-10 and 207 pounds. He has received 11 Division I-A offers, including three from Pac-12 schools. In 2016, he rushed for 1,777 yards, averaging 9.7 yards a carry, with 28 touchdowns in 13 games. His older brother, Vai Taua, rushed for 4,500 yards during his Nevada career.

Remember that group, Sunday Manoa? This was one of their hits: Kawika But I digress. On this Father’s Day, the Warriors held their final youth camp of the spring/summer. The youth tour, which went from the North Shore to Kauai, ended on the Manoa campus.

The Warriors’ final youth camp of the summer is set for tomorrow — Father’s Day — from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the Manoa campus. The camp is open to participants who will be in kindergarten through eighth grade this fall. The entry fee is $20. Each camper receives a T-shirt. High school quarterbacks and receivers are invited to participate in the 808 Passing Academy Camp on Friday, June 23, at Aloha Stadium. The cost? Nada. Zip. Nothing. Former UH quarterback Sean Schroeder, PAAMCO and several individual donors will pay the insurance, rental and operational costs. On Day 3 of the MLB Draft, two former UH baseball players were selected. Reliever Casey Ryan was picked by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round; third baseman Josh Rojas was taken by the Houston Astros in the 26th round. The Major League Baseball draft continues today.
