In a pleasant surprise, Geri Ichimura learned she sponsored lineman Eperone Moananu’s new helmet. Na Koa, the football team’s booster club, had solicited donations to purchase new helmets for the Warriors. Ichimura submitted a donation. One of the good things about yesterday’s dress rehearsal/scrimmage was it showed the impact of the 2016 recruiting class, Nick Rolovich’s first as head coach. It is remarkable how quickly Rolovich was able to assemble a staff (he was hired in late November 2015) and then the staff assembling a recruiting class. Defensive end KK Padello, a specialist with the Hawaii Army National Guard, is agreeable to putting his football career on hold if he is deployed to the Middle East next year. As a motivational tool during 7-on-7 drills, if a DB made a pick or breakup, he would retrieve the football and spike it.
