Hawaii football: Running back Dayton Furuta undergoes surgery

Running back Dayton Furuta underwent ankle surgery yesterday morning, UH officials confirmed. Head coach Nick Rolovich said Furuta will miss several games but has not ruled out a return this season. Furuta suffered the injury on a 6-yard reception off a shovel pass in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 31-28 victory over Oregon State this past Saturday. Hawaii football: JoJo Ward wins Mountain West honor

Following Hawaii’s 31-28 victory over Oregon State, quarterback Cole McDonald proclaimed the start of the “Joe Era.” It was in tribute to right wideout JoJo Ward, who caught 10 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns. The UH basketball team has filled a key position with the hiring of Chris Gerlufsen as assistant coach.
