Manu Rasmussen, a defensive back from Riverside (Calif.) City College, has accepted a football scholarship from the University of Hawaii. Rasmussen said he will sign a letter of intent today, the first day mid-year transfers may put their commitments in writing. He will enroll at UH-Manoa in January. “It was the whole atmosphere there,” Rasmussen said of his decision. “I have a lot of family there. University of Hawaii quarterback Beau Reilly is transferring to Texas A&M-Kingsville. Reilly, who is taking final exams this week, his wife and their 14-month-old son will be moving on Thursday. This is the penultimate day of this recruiting period. On Monday, the dead period begins, meaning coaches can’t have any in-person contact with a prospect through Jan. 11. The exception is coaches may have contact with a mid-year recruit as long as he’s signed a national letter of intent. Mid-year JC transfers may sign beginning on Wednesday. There are seven prospects on official UH visits this weekend.
