The aftermath of Saturday’s one-sided victory added up to Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald being named the Mountain West Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week. Hawaii football: The road more traveled

It appears it is easier for the Hawaii football team to win a road game than to return from one. Following a 54-3 trouncing of Nevada, a charter flight was delayed in taking the Warriors from Reno to San Francisco this morning. RENO >> The Warriors. who arrived in Reno late Thursday, spent today practicing for two hours at a nearby high school, attending meetings, and participating in study hall. The Warriors have followed a road schedule, which was implemented last year, in which they have a walk-through session at UH on Thursday and a more extensive practice on the road on Friday. Warrior Beat: Hawaii football departs for Reno

It was moving day for the Warriors, who were set to depart this afternoon for Reno ahead of Saturday’s game against Nevada. Both teams are 3-1 entering their Mountain West Conference opener. With Mother Nature’s cooperation, the Warriors practiced in wet conditions on Wednesday. Rainy weather is expected for Saturday’s game. The Warriors had a walk-through session this morning, with a more detailed practice expected tomorrow.

Hawaii men’s basketball: JC guard Madut granted NCAA waiver, will join ‘Bows in January

The NCAA has approved a hardship waiver that will allow guard Junior Madut to join the Rainbow Warrior basketball team in January. Madut had signed with the ‘Bows in April. Madut was born in South Sudan, grew up in Australia, attended a prep school in Florida, and played the past two seasons at Eastern Florida State College. Quarterback Cole McDonald has been added as a team captain, head coach Nick Rolovich confirmed today. McDonald joins running back Dayton Furuta, slotback Jason-Matthew Sharsh, defensive lineman Azia Se‘ei and rush end Kaimana Padello. Last week, Furuta underwent ankle surgery and will miss an extended amount of playing time.
