The NCAA’s dead period for recruiting runs through tomorrow, which, not so coincidentally, is when the American Football Coaches Association’s annual convention concludes. A UH group, led by Nick Rolovich, is attending the seminars in Nashville. The group returns to Honolulu tomorrow. The UH coaches are preparing for this weekend’s visiting recruits. This is the first of three consecutive recruiting weekends leading to the Feb. 1 signing day.
The Warriors showed their recruiting reach when they received a commitment from defensive back Jeremie “Jay” Dominique of Old Montreal Cegep. Dominique joins this week. Bonjour. Defensive back Jeremie “Jay” Dominique told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted a scholarship from Warriors. Dominique, who is 6 feet 1 and 193 pounds, said he will enroll in UH’s 2017 spring semester. Wideout Marcus Kemp is moving back to Hawaii to attend classes and train for the Warriors’ pro day in March. Kemp completed his UH eligibility at the end of the Hawaii Bowl, finishing 2016 with team highs in receptions (73), receiving yards (1,100) and TD catches (8). He also made three tackles on special teams. Kemp, who never redshirted, needs 20 credits to earn a degree in economics. After weighing several options, he decided to return to Manoa for the […]
Well, this sucks. Murray State rescinded a scholarship promise to former UH quarterback Aaron Zwahlen two weeks before the start of the school’s spring semester. Zwahlen, who had an amicable parting from UH last month, now will join Southern Utah as a walk-on this semester. Zwahlen was scheduled to visit Murray State yesterday. Wideout Isaiah Bernard, offensive lineman Asotui Eli and running back Genta Ito had perfect 4.0 grad-point averages in the fall semester. In all, the Warriors had their best overall fall since 2013, with a cumulative 2.83 GPA for the semester.
