Strip tease

LAS VEGAS — The Mountain West hits the Las Vegas Strip this week to promote the coming football season. The MWC Media Days start with meetings today. The head coach and two players from each Mountain Division team will meet with the media tomorrow. The West teams will meet with the media on Wednesday. Quarterback Ikaika Woolsey and safety Daniel Lewis will represent the Warriors. Nick Rolovich arrives in Vegas tomorrow morning.

Warriors coaches visit robbed shop owner

The University of Hawaii football staff visited Ok Cha Kim, the 76-year-old Kalihi store owner who was robbed last Monday. Video of her being choked hit social media quickly and went viral. It resulted in two of her alleged attackers turning themselves in.

UH is back in session today. The Warriors had a team meeting last night to emphasize academics and training. The Warriors’ offseason conditioning program begins on Jan. 25, and runs to just before spring break. The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team plays tonight. So do the women. But if you want to see the men play, you need to be at the Stan Sheriff Center by 5:30 p.m. for tip-off against Howard. Howard features the nation’s leading scorer, James Daniel III who averages 29.0 points per game. The women’s team plays Penn at 8 p.m., and the fans from the men’s game are invited to stay for the Wahine game.
