University of Hawaii men’s volleyball players Colton Cowell and Brett Rosenmeier finished 13th at the World University Beach Volleyball Championships in Munich, Germany, today. Cowell-Rosenmeier, seeded 28th, upset No. 2 seed Mateusz Lysikowski and Mateusz Paszkowski of Poland, 21-18, 12-21, 15-12 in a match that lasted 43 minutes at the TUM courts at Olympic Park. Former Hawaii All-American volleyball player Emily Maglio has helped Canada advance to Friday’s semifinals of the Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Maglio had a combined 29 points in Canada’s sweeps of Peru, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic to win Group A. U.S. men’s team updated schedule, Masui Allen

The U.S. men’s national volleyball team, has revised its training and match schedule for later this month. Expected to be among those training at ‘Iolani School on July 26 are Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani), Erik Shoji (Punahou) and Micah Christenson (Kamehameha). The matches are scheduled for July 27 at Kamehameha at 7 p.m. and July 28 at Kalani at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. From UH The Rainbow Warrior men’s volleyball pair of Brett Rosenmeier and Colton Cowell fell in the championship match of the USAV Collegiate Beach Championship Saturday to Florida State’s Jon Justice and Adam Wienckowski, 15-21, 28-26, 15-12. The UH duo, who finished fourth in this event last year, went 3-1 record duirng this year’s tournament.
