Warriors up to No. 3 in AVCA poll

The Hawaii men’s volleyball team moved up a spot to No. 3 in the latest AVCA poll released Monday. No surprise after then-No. 2 UCLA was swept by CSUN. The Beach have all 16 first-place votes at No. 1. UCI moves up a place to No. 2. Following Hawaii is BYU, Pepperdine and the Bruins. Wahine add Hanawahine from Oregon

Kyra Hanawahine, a Kamehameha Schools grad, has transferred from Oregon. She was not cleared to play in the NCAA tournament. She joins Jolie Rusmussen as a former Duck to Manoa; Rasmussen’s transfer was announced on Dec. 25. Hanawahine, a defensive specialist, will have two seasons at Hawaii. Hawaii (0-0), preseason No. 3, slipped to No. 4 in today’s first regular season AVCA Division I-II men’s volleyball top 15, trading places with UC Irvine. The Anteaters (3-0), No. 3 last week, defeated then-No. 9 Loyola-Chicago in five and then-No. 7 Lewis in four last week, and swept new No. 14 Ball State today.
