Warriors get commit from Geiger

Hawaii got a commitment from Fullerton College sophomore hitter Garrett Geiger according to the Hornets’ website. He was one of the three recruits in the arena last week. The 6-foot-5 Geiger led the Hornets in kills during his freshman year in 2018 with 171 and earned second team All-Orange Empire Conference. The Hawaii athletics department held its “H Awards” banquet on Monday night, honoring its top athletic and academic achievers spanning the school’s 21 sports. Men’s volleyball senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg and women’s soccer senior striker Raisa Strom-Okimoto took home the signature awards of the night, the Jack Bonham Award, handed out annually to one male and one female athlete at UH. Junior opposite Rado Parapunov today was named the Big West player of the week in men’s volleyball, the fifth time this season for Parapunov and the sixth straight week a Rainbow Warrior player was recognized. The Bulgarian national averaged 5.71 kills per set, hitting .435 (40-10-69) as Hawaii won both of last week’s matches against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara.
