Congrats to Hawaii men’s volleyball, the No. 1 in the AVCA preseason poll today. ————— The Hawaii men’s volleyball team was at No. 1 in today’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I-II preseason poll, a first for the program. The Rainbow Warriors (28-3 in 2019) finished second nationally, losing to Long Beach State in the NCAA final. Hawaii received 14 of the 16 first-place votes. Hawaii men’s volleyball: Rainbow Warriors release 2020 schedule

Like most teams, the Hawaii men’s volleyball team has had problems filling its allotted 28 dates. The Rainbow Warriors have 29 matches, including two exhibitions with Nittaidai of Japan. Alumni match is Jan. 24. Hawaii volleyball: Rainbow Wahine add Anna Kiraly, Warriors officially sign 3, T25 scores

Hawaii has signed a second Rainbow Wahine volleyball player. She is 6-3 middle Anna Kiraly from Hungary, the first Wahine ever from that country. She helped lead her Godolloi Roplabda Club team to the Central Hungarian Regional Championship 1st place in 2017; U21 Hungarian Championship 2nd place in 2019; and the U19 Hungarian Championship 3rd place in 2017,’19. All three Hawaii volleyball teams were expected to announce commits for 2020-21 but we have been told the SandBows will be out on Thursday. Signing with the Hawaii men is 6-8 setter Austin Buchanan, son of Idaho WVB coach Debbie Buchanan. Mom was recruited by Dave Shoji but chose to play at USC over Hawaii. Hawaii took on defending national champion Long Beach State in two fall exhibitions on Saturday, one in the Walter Pyramid and one in the auxiliary Gold Mine facility. For the week, the Rainbow Warriors went 5-1, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-1, UC Irvine 4-0, CSUN 5-1 and Long Beach State 3-0 and 2-1. Apologies again for lateness. Traveling. Will be at WVB Friday (Fullerton) and Saturday (Irvine). Men the men played at CSUN Friday. They may try to make the UCI match Saturday playing at Long Beach State. At CSUN, (teams agree to play six), Hawaii won 25-18, 25-11, 25-14, 25-27, 25-14, 25-22 in the fifth. The 2020 roster is up (without bios on the new guys) Click here Warriors are at UC Santa Barbara Wednesday, UC Irvine Thursday, CSUN Friday and Long Beach State Saturday. Saturday the Warriors play Beach at 10 a.m., USC at 11:45 in the Pyramid. They’ll play Beach again 3 p.m. in the Gold Mine.
