Wahine Sneaker Drive for YO at Senior Night

The Rainbow Wahine have been doing community service for a few years with Waikiki Health’s Youth Outreach (YO) program for homeless youth on Oahu. Saturday they’re asking fans to bring new or used sneakers that they can bring down to program. Megan Huff missed her first career double-double, finishing with eight points and 13 rebounds for the Rainbow Wahine (10-7, 2-2). Huff joins Rainbow Wahine basketball team

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team’s depth in the post received a sizable boost with the addition of freshman Megan Huff, a member of the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team in the fall. Huff, a 6-foot-3 center, practiced with the Wahine this week as they prepared for a New Year’s Eve game against Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Hours before welcoming the new year, the Rainbow Wahine basketball team will try to close 2014 on a celebratory note. After splitting a road trip leading into Christmas, the Wahine return to the Stan Sheriff Center on Wednesday afternoon for a New Year’s Eve matchup with Hawaii Pacific to open a two-game homestand. Rainbow Wahine prepare for tests on the road

Along with studying its upcoming opponents, the Rainbow Wahine basketball team will also focus on final exams during their second road trip of the season. The Rainbow Wahine departed for California on Wednesday morning and are scheduled to practice in Los Angeles in preparation for Saturday’s game at Loyola Marymount.
