The Rainbow Wahine basketball team’s 2017-18 roster has been posted on the UH website and the 15-member group should give head coach Laura Beeman greater depth to work with in her sixth season. The Wahine were limited to eight players for last season’s opener at USC and 11 eventually saw playing time in a 12-18 campaign. Nine of those players return and junior guards Rachel Odumu and Tia Kanoa join the active roster after being limited to practice duty during […]

By Jason Kaneshiro on July 21, 2017

Since being hired to fill out the Rainbow Wahine basketball team’s coaching staff for the 2017-18 season, Darron Larsen hasn’t had much time to settle into his new office. When the former Pepperdine assistant’s addition was finalized earlier this month, his first assignment took him from Los Angeles to Chicago, where he met up with head coach Laura Beeman and fellow first-year assistant Courtney Locke to scout a tournament. After arriving in Honolulu last week, he shuttled between apartment hunting […]

The Rainbow Wahine basketball team put the finishing touch on the season with its annual postseason banquet on Monday. The festivities included the presentations of the team awards as voted upon by the players. “I think any time you leave it in the hands of your players to elect your captains and to vote on the special team awards that we give out, I think that’s a real honor for any of these young ladies to receive one of those […]

By Jason Kaneshiro on March 4, 2017

It was next-coach-up for most of the Rainbow Wahine basketball team’s practices this week. It takes a lot to keep Laura Beeman out of the gym, which should provide an indication of the degree of the ailment that prevented the UH head coach from attending practices until Friday. In her absence associate coach Alex Delanian and assistants Calamity McEntire and Brad Langston ran the workouts Wednesday and Thursday as the Wahine prepared for their senior night game against Long Beach […]
