Today’s UH-Long Beach State is the final sporting event on the Manoa campus this athletic year. It also will be the final home game for 12 baseball seniors — a 13th, Colin Ashworth, is expected to return on a medical exemption. Today’s senior celebration comes with a bonus. Dr. Ron Cambra, UH’s Assistant Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Education, will present replica diplomas to this year’s 14 graduates. Lelie earns MBA … final hurrah for baseball seniors

Belated congratulations to Ashley Lelie, who earned an MBA last weekend. Lelie is a Radford High graduate who joined the Warriors as a walk-on receiver. He entered the NFL draft following his junior year, was the 19th pick overall, and then enjoyed a pro career while earning a bachelor’s degree. UH will benefit from new NCAA rule

Hawaii reliever Colin Ashworth’s collegiate career ended when he suffered an ankle injury. And now, thanks to a new NCAA rule, his career might not have ended. The NCAA now allows for a player who has a non-injury redshirt year to extend his career if he misses another season because of an injury. Trapasso gets contract extension

UH baseball coach Mike Trapasso has reached an agreement on an multi-year contract extension. Trapasso’s contract was set to expire in August. But Trapasso and athletic director David Matlin told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser a deal has been reached, although details will not be discussed until after the 2018 season. The Warriors are inviting football alumni to attend the April 28 spring game and ensuing reception at the UH baseball game. The Warriors have sent out personal invitations, although all football alumni are invited. The open period for NCAA recruiting has started, and beginning today, coaches are permitted to have on-campus visits at high schools.
