Hawaii football exes joining XFL in Texas

A month after being named GM/head coach of the XFL’s Houston franchise, June Jones is bringing aloha ball to the Lone Star State. Quarterback Cole McDonald and rush end Kaimana Padello will be the Warriors’ representatives at the Mountain West Football Media Days in July, coach Nick Rolovich confirmed today. Hawaii baseball: Dylan Thomas signs with Minnesota Twins

Former UH pitcher Dylan Thomas is in a Sunshine state — geographically and emotionally — after signing a contract with the Minnesota Twins. The signing took place this morning at the Twins’ training facility in Florida. Thomas said he will receive a $100,000 signing bonus. Thomas is expected to be assigned to the Elizabethon (Tenn.) Mililani lineman Tuatagaloa commits to Hawaii football

Mililani High lineman Jake Tuatagaloa told the Star-Advertiser he has accepted a 2020 football scholarship offer from the Warriors. The skinny: > Tuatagaloa is 6-2 and 305 pounds. Hawaii Football: Camp draws coaches, talent

The 2019 Rainbow Warrior Football Elite Camps kicked off with this morning’s session for offensive and defensive linemen on the Manoa campus. The UH coaching staff and coaches from 21 universities, including three from Pac-12 schools, served as instructors. The state’s top O-lineman for the 2020 class, Faaope Laloulu, was among the participants. Laloulu played for Saint Francis School, which recently closed. Hawaii football: Borden earns tryout with Oakland Raiders

Former UH long-snapper Noah Borden has received an invitation to participate in a tryout with the Oakland Raiders. Borden departs Sunday, with the workout scheduled for Monday. Borden, a Kamehameha Schools graduate who grew up in Pearl City, was a reliable long-snapper for the Warriors. A year later and 25 rounds earlier, the Minnesota Twins selected pitcher Dylan Thomas in the 13th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.
