Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Dropped into the clinic that Micah Christenson and Kawika Shoji put on this afternoon at Kekuhaupi’o No surprise that Dave Shoji was helping out. Said he’s feeling good, been a good summer. Clinic was full. 100-plus for both sessions. Ryan Tsuji doing the PR. said they filled up within days of the online registration. Apparently will be an annual thing.

University of Hawaiii incoming sophomore setter Norene Iosia has been named to the U.S. Women’s Junior National team that will compete at the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship that begins this week in Mexico.
