If Wahine-KSU play Sunday closed to public; Top 25 scores

By Cindy Luis on August 24, 2018

From UH: A decision on the potential women’s volleyball match between Hawaii and Kansas State will not be made until after Hurricane Lane’s impact on Oahu has been assessed. If the decision is made to play the Sunday match, it will be closed to the public due the short time frame and unknown factors of the storm hinders ability to assemble the necessary staff to ensure public safety for a large group. We are working on having a single-camera video […]

By Cindy Luis on August 23, 2018

Just got word from UH that there definitely will be no matches Friday and Saturday between the Wahine and Kansas State. There is a possibility of Sunday but that decision will be made by end of business hours Friday (think that’s 4:30 pm or 5 p.m.). No time given for the match if it is played. Due to Hurricane Lane, there will be no #HawaiiWVB matches on Fri, 8/24 & Sat, 8/25. A decision on any potential of a Sunday, […]

Wahine wrap up two-a-days

By Cindy Luis on August 18, 2018

Team finished its second practice around 2:15 today. Still lots of work to do according to coaches and players. As mentioned after Friday’s scrimmage, they’re still working on starting lineup. Do think the one-and-dones will contribute this year. Opposite Angel Gaskin is a great addition but she’s never been in the passing rotation so that might limit her back row play. Middle Sarah Liva is athletic, still getting into volleyball mindset and shape. Libero Tita Akiu is really good. The […]

Friday scrimmage updates and video

By Cindy Luis on August 17, 2018

Thank you Brian McInnis for video. Statehood Day celebratory crowd of about 1,000 are here. They are not keeping statics and are using a scoring system that only the coaches understand where points are awarded for true scoring and taken away for errors. On the White side currently is who I think are projected starters: Norene Iosia, Casey Castillo, Sarah Liva, Skyler Williams, Tita Akiu, McKenna Granato, Angel Gaskin. although Faith Ma’afala switched sides to serve leaving assistants Kaleo Baxter […]
