She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

The “Rise of the Wahine” premiere event takes place today (Wednesday) at the Hawaii Theater. Improving weather conditions has led to another revision of Hawaii’s volleyball schedule this weekend, athletic department officials announced today. The Rainbow Wahine will play Kansas State at 7 tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center in a match that will be closed to the public.
