Hanna Hellvig earned her fourth Freshman of the Week and Rika Okino her first career weekly award as defensive player of the week as the Big West weekly honors were announced. An interesting three-team race for the Big West Conference women’s volleyball crown was on full display at the Stan Sheriff Center in the last few days. The No. 21 Hawaii women’s volleyball team started fast, withstood a lull, then powered past two-time defending Big West champion Cal Poly to assume first place in the conference standings on Sunday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
