The order of some of the below events and moments is subjective, of course, and you might have one or two in mind that is not here. Feel free to add […]

Hawaii men’s basketball: Rainbow Warriors roll Maine in Eran Ganot’s return

By Brian McInnis on December 29, 2019

It was high drama in the Stan Sheriff Center in Eran Ganot’s return to the sidelines. Would Hawaii — which turned Sunday night’s contest against Maine into a blowout early in the second half — achieve one of the most lopsided victories in program history? In fact, they would, as the 40-point margin of the 91-51 win tied for seventh all-time in the record books. It was the most emphatic win over a Division I program since an 85-41 win over Oregon […]

As Stephen Tsai notes, he stepped away for 51 days, although he’d made increasingly frequent appearances in recent weeks. The specifics of his condition were not disclosed. Ganot will be on the sidelines for Sunday’s 5 p.m. matchup against Maine (3-9), the nonconference finale for UH (8-5). UPDATE: Here’s a couple of […]

Hawaii men’s basketball: Eddie Stansberry takes torrid scoring into Diamond Head Classic

By Brian McInnis on December 22, 2019

Eddie would shoot. And, more importantly for the Hawaii mens basketball team, Eddie would score. Heading into the start of the 2019 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic today, host Hawaii is one of seven teams in the eight-team field with a winning record, at 7-3. Eddie Stansberry, a senior shooting guard with the Rainbow Warriors, has a lot to do with that. His seven 20-point games, among 10 played, have hiked his overall scoring average to 19.7 — which represents the […]

By Brian McInnis on December 12, 2019

Hawaii men’s basketball head coach Eran Ganot hinted Thursday at an imminent return to the sideline in an update posted on social media. Ganot, who suddenly stepped away from the program on Nov. 6 — two days before the 2019-20 season opener — for unspecified medical reasons, posted the following on Facebook and Twitter. He did not include a date of his return beyond saying it would be “soon”: “A special Mahalo for the incredible outpouring of support during this […]

VIDEO: Hawaii women’s volleyball seizes upon home advantage to open NCAA tournament

By Brian McInnis on December 6, 2019

The chants and cheers probably weren’t as loud or as emphatic as they were just two weeks ago, when Hawaii rolled Long Beach State in front of a sold-out crowd at the Stan Sheriff Center. But the signature “Let’s Go Bows!” cries ringing out in the Sheriff in front of 7,126 on Friday night were still plenty boisterous in UH’s first hosted NCAA tournament match since 2013. >> PHOTO GALLERY: HAWAII VS.
