Big West BVB honors to Scoles-Homayun
Don’t think this was a huge surprise. Ari Homayun and Julia Scoles played really well over the weekend, earning Big West Pairs Team of the week on Tuesday. Opposing coaches commented on Scoles’ physicality. As they say in VB, she hits a heavy ball. Scoles’ mother was here watching.
Scoles is very athletic and is falling in love with beach. She told me that she still feels like a fish out of water as she continues to learn the game. IMHO she is has learned to swim quickly. You saw it in fall. She and Pani Napoleon finished second in the pairs exhibition tournament Nov. 18.
Coach Jeff Hall agreed that Scoles was impressive in her spring playing debut.

From UH
Senior Ari Homayun and junior Julia Scoles claimed the first Big West Pairs Team of the Week award of 2019 after going 3-1 during the opening weekend of the season.
Competing at the No 3. flight, the pair had the best weekend of any UH squad, by winning three of its four matches with its lone loss coming to No. 1 UCLA. The wins all were in straight sets, winning by a 56 combined points and an average margin of 9.3 points per set. The weekend was highlighted by a convincing 21-16, 21-9 sweep of Skylar Caputo and Jenna Tunnell of No. 4 Pepperdine. The duo also defeated pairs from Saint Mary’s and No. 11 Stanford. Scoles was named the Best Attacker following the conclusion of the tournament.
Julia Scoles is the “real deal” Just imagine with Joile and Julia on the Pins in Indoor. That would be a dream come true (wake up!) The way Julia gets up on the sand and obliterate those white coconuts is amazing! She makes it look too easy!’
My recollection was that Julia retired from indoor due to concussions and transferred to UH to strictly play beach.
Vote for JOE and GAGE.
Would be great if brother can both be national players of the week for their respective positions.

1-2. Scoles has retired from indoor following the concussion. They are trying to get back a year of eligibility for her but haven’t had any success.
