Baseball ‘Bows seeking more arms
The baseball ‘Bows have a 1.74 earned-run average, their four starters allowed one earned run in 30 1/3 innings this past series, and they signed five pitchers to the 2019 recruiting class.
It should be no surprise head coach Mike Trapasso, who doubles as the pitching coach, is in search of more hurlers. Trapasso departs today on a recruiting trip ahead of the ‘Bows’ three-game road series against LSU this weekend. The rest of the team departs tomorrow.
During this open recruiting period, Trapasso will be checking on three pitchers. There still is room for additions to the 2019 class.
Trapasso indicated that he is leaning toward the same rotation order of Jackson Rees, Dominic DeMiero and Neil Uskali. Because the LSU series is three games instead of four, Logan Pouelsen, who pitched a four-hit shutout yesterday, is likely to be used as the bridge to closer Dylan Thomas.

Don’t burn out Pouelsen’s arm.
ST,
I don’t remember the starting staff in 1980, led by Freshman sensation Chuck Crim, who went 15-0 that year, and freshman closer Bryan Duquette…who were the other pitchers?

Agree that all the pitchers should not have their arms burned out.

Shaquille Griffin looked kind of fast when he played . I think he ran a 4.38 for the 40 at the combine.
Somebody mentioned about a mainland board saying that if BYU, Gonzaga and St Mary’s join the MWC, the MW could let UH go if BYU brings in its football team.
How probable is that?
Thanks, H-Man…brought back some good memories from my college days. Back in ’82 and ’83, I used to enter the stadium after the start of the 7th inning when they opened the gates. A short walk down the the large stairs between Gateway and Johnson Hall to the Tilapia pond and Lower Quarry.
I am hopeful that the 49ers will take a hard, long look at S. Griffen as an OLB for his size and speed off the edges
i was very impressed with his play and enthusiasm as he completed his final year at UCF — committed, dedicated, flying all around the field which, I’m sure, affected the play of his teammates.
OK, ST — you got me interested in reading the “vitals” of K. Hune
he has the physique of an interior DL guy.
will he be eligible for a scholarship from one of the departed scholarship players or must wait? UH has used its entire allotment of 25 for 2018 class.
1.
Agreed.
There is no need for a complete game this early in the season.
I thought the ninth would have been a good spot to get Cade Smith going.
I remember Don Robbs saying that Duquette had “a cup of coffee” with the Milwaukee Brewers and yet he has no official stat line. Does that mean Duquette was on the extended roster late in the season but never saw any action?
Does anybody know Don Robbs?
I want to know the answer to this.
Smart move, keeping Ethan Lopez at third base.
Saved his psyche.
Heads up to whoever compiles the minor league stats for players with Hawaii connections.
