UH recruit is POY

Saint Louis quarterback Chevan Cordeiro is the Star-Advertiser’s Offensive Player of the Year. Our peeps at Hawaii Prep World did a good job vetting, compiling, and selecting this year’s All-State teams. Here’s the link: All-State teams Cordeiro is expected to sign with the Warriors on Wednesday.

One of the good guys — Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea (who actually won a national award for being a good guy) — is back in Hawaii after spending the past six months playing in Germany and then Japan. Warriors add rush end

The Warriors boosted their pass rush with the addition of Zach Ritner of Capistrano Valley (Calif.) High. Ritner is 6 feet 3 and 240 pounds. This past season, he amassed 24.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback hurries. Two multi-skilled players commit to Warriors

Eight days ahead of the early-signing period, the Warriors filled a need at defensive end and secured a commitment from a player who can help at several positions. Derek Thomas of Cerritos College and Jonah La‘ulu of Centennial High told the Star-Advertiser they will sign letters of intent next week Wednesday, the first day of the new early-signing period. It’s final-exams week for the Warriors. There are about 15 Warriors expected to earn bachelor’s degrees on Saturday, including left tackle Dejon Allen, defensive end Meffy Koloamatangi, running back Diocemy Saint Juste and safety Trayvon Henderson. Many of the Warriors will be completing work on their bachelor’s degree in nine semesters — a rapid rate that is credited to Na Koa and the Waterhouse foundation for paying for summer school.
