Farrington d-lineman to join Warriors

Farrington defensive lineman Fo‘i Sila will be joining the Warriors as a preferred walk-on this summer. Sila played end and tackle for the Governors in 2017. “He hits hard,” Farrington coach Randall Okimoto said. “He’s a hard hitter and he hustles. And he has good grades. Santiago will transfer

The Warriors have granted defensive back Keala Santiago’s request for a scholarship release. The release allows Santiago to receive a football scholarship from another school during the 2018 fall semester. He still would have to redshirt if he transfers to another FBS school. Santiago played 22 games in his two UH seasons, starting five. He started four games this season when the Warriors opened in a three-safety scheme. The Warriors will have another puka to fill following slotback Dylan Collie’s surprise announcement that he will transfer after his graduation in May and play his senior season for another school. John Ursua should be fully recovered from an ACL injury to reclaim the No. 1 slotback’s job. But the Warriors are projected to use more double-slot concepts this season. Rolo fills coaching staff

Mark Weber, who has 37 years of coaching experience, will be the Warriors’ new offensive line coach, the Star-Advertiser learned last night. The Warriors also hired Ricky Logo as defensive line coach and Andre Allen to coach the receivers. Logo spent the past three seasons at Colorado State. Allen, Saint Juste prepare for all-star games

Offensive lineman Dejon Allen and running back Diocemy Saint Juste began team workouts today for this Saturday’s all-star games. Allen is playing in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla. At this morning’s weigh-in, his reach was measured at 33 1/2 inches. Saint Juste, who has been training in Arizona, arrived in California this past weekend. Warriors prepare for recruiting spree

The two new hires — defensive coordinator Corey Batoon and assistant head coach/linebackers coach Mark Banker — were set to arrive in town this weekend. They spent the past few days checking up on the recent signed commitments on the mainland. The Warriors are preparing for this weekend’s recruiting visits. They plan to use all eight of their remaining initial scholarships on the Feb. 7 signing day.
