Nanumi Lolohea, who was Garden City Junior College’s linebackers coach this past season, has been hired as a UH intern for defense. He also was linebackers coach for three seasons at Jasper (Texas) High and graduate for two years at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. Earlier, UH confirmed that Billy Ray Stutzmann, a former UH and Saint Louis School wideout, was hired as an intern for offense.

Saint Louis School students pride themselves on being part of a “brotherhood.” As a Saint Louis upperclassman a few years ago, UH wideout Devan Stubblefield volunteered to serve as a “big brother” to a young Crusader. The role is to advise and tutor. Two things caught my attention recently — and that’s significant, because I have attention-deficit issues. There was a late-night TV commercial promoting Penn State’s on-line program. There’s also an ESPN.com story about the success of Grand Canyon University, fueled in part by private donations and an enrollment surge (particularly through the on-line program). Joey Nu‘uanu-Kuhi‘iki is crossing the line. After two years on the defensive line, Nu‘uanu-Kuhi‘iki is moving to the offensive line. Nu‘uanu-Kuhi‘iki is a Waianae High graduate who redshirted in 2016 and played in two games in 2017. “I’m gonna try my hardest, whatever I got to do for the team,” he said. As a former high school wrestler, he appears to possess the footwork and first-step burst to fit as a blocker.
