Opening practice: Tavai, Chung are back

Middle linebacker Jahlani Tavai and center Kaiwi Chung participated in today’s first practice of training camp. This summer, they were withheld from team activities while school officials investigated their role in a June 9 scuffle. They were arrested on misdemeanor accusations. But no charges have been filed. They participated in last week’s pep rally downtown, and they were involved in all phases of practice today. Reporting day

Summertime is over, and training camp begins for the Warriors. Players are required to report today for orientation sessions (although most have gone through the procedure prior to beginning summer conditioning drills). The first practice is at 8 tomorrow morning. The first eight practices — tomorrow, Saturday, and next week Monday through Saturday — are open to the public. Kailua lineman is joining Warriors

Naia Wong — the son of Kailua High coach and former NFL player Hauoli Wong — told the Star-Advertiser he is joining the Warriors. Naia Wong, like his father, is an offensive lineman and Kailua High alumnus. Wong graduated in 2017 but spent the past year taking classes at Windward Community College. After a post-high-school growth spurt, Wong is now 6-2 and 290.

Saint Louis slotback Brunn to join Warriors

The Warriors are filling a slot with another slot. Slot receiver Kellam Brunn, a 2018 Saint Louis School graduate, told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he is joining the Warriors.
