Yesterday’s pledge from a former 4-star athlete — back/receiver Melquise Stovall — further boosts the Warriors’ 2019 recruiting class. Stovall was at California for two years before enrolling at Riverside City College this semester. Stovall, who can run 40 yards in 4.5 seconds, was rated as the nation’s No. 6 all-purpose back as a Paraclete High senior in 2016. He had committed, then de-committed to USC, before signing with Cal. Following today’s 90-minute practice, slotback John Ursua was told he was one of 11 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver. Ursua leads the nation in touchdown receptions (15). He is fourth in receiving yards (1,161), sixth in receiving yards per game (105.5) and ninth in catches per game (7.2).
