For the first time in 20 days, the Rainbow Warriors are back in the Stan Sheriff Center. This time, the ‘Bows are facing UH-Hilo. For the ‘Bows, who are coming off a 1-3 road trip, this game counts as part of their regular-season schedule. For the Vulcans, this is considered an exhibition. Freaky Friday? No, today was Whacky Wednesday, during which several offensive and defensive players switched roles. Hawaii Beat: Extra workouts

As a bonus for qualifying for the SoFi Hawaii Bowl, the Warriors were granted 15 practices leading to the Dec. 22 game. The extra work has been beneficial for the offensive and defensive lines. During today’s practice, tackle Ernest Moore and guard Gene Pryor got ample work with the first-team offensive line. On defense, Justus Tavai has been honing his skills as a hybrid at nose tackle and 3-technique.

After a week off, the Warriors today worked out for 90 minutes, the first of 15 NCAA-allotted practices in advance of the Dec. 22 SoFi Hawaii Bowl. UH coach Nick Rolovich said he views the bowl practices as “another spring practice.” The Warriors are using the extra workouts to give meaningful reps to freshmen, redshirts and developing players. Tough night in Westwood for the ‘Bows, who fell 80-61 to UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. Prince Ali stole the show, pouring in a season-high 23 points. He started off with four all-swish 3s and finished with a thunderous dunk. The ‘Bows bench had some nice moments.
