Warriors open spring ball on March 29

Who will place slotback John Ursua? And linebacker Jahlani Tavai? And how will the quarterback reps be split? The answers will begin to be revealed on Friday, March 29, for the first of 15 spring practices for the Warriors. The spring game will be played April 27.

The baseball Rainbow Warriors open their 18th season under Mike Trapasso with tonight’s game against Portland at Les Murakami Stadium. Jeremy Wu-Yelland will throw the first pitch. Alema Kapoi, a former All-State defensive lineman, is joining the Warriors. Here’s the skinny: > Kapoi is 6 feet, 275 pounds, and capable of playing nose tackle, 3-technique and defensive end. The Warriors have all those positions in their 4-2-5 defense. > Kapoi is a 2016 Kamehameha-Kapalama graduate. Former All-State lineman to join Warriors

Michael Eletise, a former All-State offensive lineman and 4-star prospect from Kaiser High, is transferring from Arizona to the UH football team. “I’m very excited,” said Eletise, who based his decisions partly on having “some family stuff to take care of. And my grandparents are getting older. It’s easier for them to see me play if I’m in Hawaii.
