By Stephen Tsai on June 1, 2014

All signs point to Luke Matthews being promoted from graduate assistant in charge of receivers to full-time coach. When that happens, here’s what it means: > Continuity: With three newcomers to the full-time staff — defensive coordinator Kevin Clune, linebacker coach Kurt Gouveia and running back coach Wayne Moses —  Matthews offers a measure of stability. He knows the system and the players; the players know him. Matthews, quarterback coach Jordan Wynn and receiver Quinton Pedroza were teammates at Utah. […]

There will be kind of a hush as the football recruiting as football recruiting enters the quiet period tomorrow. While their teammates go through speed, agility and weight drills, Anguay and Borden perform exercises that do not impact their injuries. Anguay, who uses crutches, recently had arthroscopic surgery to clean his right knee. Borden is recovering from hernia surgery. Both should be ready for the Aug. 1 start of training camp.

By Stephen Tsai on May 27, 2014

It rained. It was early. It didn’t matter to the Rainbow Warriors, who showed up at 5:45 a.m. on the first day of the NCAA-approved offseason conditioning program.   The players rotated at workout stations. While a group lifted, one group ran shuttle drills, another worked on leg exercises, and so forth.
