Former UH defensive end Beau Yap has been invited to a private tryout with the Cincinnati Bengals. Yap will audition as a fullback. “Defense is no longer in the picture,” said Yap, who departs Monday evening for the Wednesday tryout. At UH’s pro day in March, Yap went through drills as a fullback. Tight end Harold Moleni is the Warriors’ 2015 spring valedictorian, earning a 3.9 grade-point average for the recently completed semester. Moleni, who will be a senior this fall, has a 3.81 cumulative GPA. Left tackle Ben Clarke, a biology major, earned a 3.83 GPA this past semester. Quarterback Beau Reilly had a 3.82 GPA. As we’ve learned through the years, the NCAA never — Ever! — changes its decisions. Until recently. In a surprising U-Turn, the NCAA now is open to granting waivers that would allow players who transferred during the 2014-2015 academic year to play this coming season without redshirting. Former Warrior cornerback Mike Edwards always has specialized in returns. In 2012, he led the nation in kickoff-return yards while also scoring three touchdowns. This summer, he will be back on the field as a member of the U.S. national team that will compete in the International Federation of American Football’s World Championship. The Warriors have booked their flights for the coming season and — no surprise — they will lead the nation in miles traveled with 41,376. The Warriors decided to return to Honolulu between road games against Wisconsin and Boise State, giving them at least three full days of classes. For the two Midwest trips, they take non-stop commercial flights between Honolulu and Chicago, then travel to Columbus for the Ohio State game and Madison for the Wisconsin game. The Warriors […]
