Spring football: Past meets present

During yesterday evening’s first meeting of spring training, head coach Nick Rolovich gave an impassioned speech on the Warriors’ history of pride and purpose. And then more than 100 former Warriors descended the stairs of the athletic complex auditorium to welcome the current players to the ohana. Smoke got in Rolovich’s eyes. Afterward, many of the former players stayed to talk story at a reception sponsored by Na Koa.

Receiver on a comeback route

Wider receiver Don’yeh Patterson has been training at UH, and is expected to rejoin the Warriors. At the recommendation of former NFL standout Keyshawn Johnson, Patterson initially signed with the Warriors on Feb. 5, 2014. Former Nevada GA joins UH staff

Makana Garrigan, who served as a Nevada graduate assistant coach in 2015, is joining the Warriors’ coaching staff as an intern. Garrigan will be the third intern on Nick Rolovoch’s first staff, joining former Warriors John Estes and Marc Moody. Garrigan, a graduate of Case Grande High, was recruited to Nevada as a wide receiver. But his playing career was abbreviated because of injuries. Moody set to join Warriors

Marc Moody, a Saint Louis School graduate who was Pacific’s defensive coordinator the past football season, is set to join the Warriors as an intern on defense. Moody was a UH linebacker for a year before transferring to Saddleback College. He then played for Pacific’s resurrected football program in 2010 and 2011. Before being promoted to defensive coordinator, Moody had coached Pacific’s defensive ends and the defensive line, coordinated the junior-varsity program, was the point recruiter in Hawaii and Southern […]

Warriors: Estes joins coaching staff

Former UH offensive linemen John Estes has joined the Warriors’ coaching staff as an intern. Estes replaces Ramsen Golpashin as top assistant to O-line coach Chris Naeole. In 2015, Golpashin was a graduate assistant who served as interim line coach for the final four games. Golphashin is now with Oregon, his alma mater. Estes was a three-team All-WAC player who was used at guard and center for the Warriors. He started a record 54 consecutive games, including the 2008 Sugar […]
