UH football: OLB/DE pondering retirement

By Stephen Tsai on June 30, 2016

DE/OLB Jeremy Castro is looking into the possibility of pursuing a medical retirement. Castro has not practiced or played since suffering a back injury against San Diego State the past October. He had played in six games in 2015, including a start at Ohio State, when he amassed five solo tackles. If the medical retirement is solidified, UH is agreeable to paying for Castro’s two remaining years needed to earn a bachelor’s degree. As a Vista Murrietta (Calif.) High senior […]

Cole Brownholtz of Sierra College will be the Warriors’ fourth quarterback addition since the end of spring training. Brownholtz is a nice match because: 1) Sierra ran the “Air Raid” offense that has many concepts of the four-wide offense the Warriors utilized from 1999 through 2011, and 2) Nick Rolovich has kept tabs on Brownholtz since June 2014, when Brownholtz attended Nevada’s football camp for high school players. Rolovich was Nevada’s offensive coordinator at the time. UH also was able […]

Three of the charges were misdemeanors and two were petty misdemeanors. It was the lone felony […]

By Stephen Tsai on June 27, 2016

Today is the first day of college for 14 first-year Warriors. They are enrolled in UH’s so-called “bridge” program — two three-credit classes that will enable the newcomers to acclimate to college life and earn a jump start in accumulating credits toward a degree. Many of the other newcomers are enrolled in Summer Session II, which begins July 5. Leo Koloamatangi is an example of a player benefitting from the bridge program and the ensuing summer sessions. Koloamatangi, who exited […]

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh knows his audience. For today’s clinic at Saint Louis School, Harbaugh wore the jersey of the Crusaders’ most decorated football alumnus. “I bought it from a street vendor in L.A. yesterday,” Harbaugh said of his Titans-blue Mariota jersey. There were more than 250 participants at the clinics, in which the Michigan, UH and Saint Louis coaches served as instructors. * * * * * From yesterday’s training at Schofield Barracks: * * * * *

Warrior football: Training day at Schofield

By Stephen Tsai on June 25, 2016

The Warriors will take their offseason workouts to another level during today’s training at Schofield Barracks.
