It was 2,308 days ago — June 21, 2009 — when Samson Anguay made a verbal commitment to play for the Warriors. After wearing three different shirts — grayshirt, redshirt and medical shirt — enduring three knee injuries and earning a bachelor’s degree, Anguay continues to honor that commitment. Bo Montgomery, a key but understated member of the UH coaching staff, has been hired as Humboldt State’s defensive line coach. Montgomery was the Warriors’ defensive quality coach. He also helped in recruiting. Montgomery is a Kealakehe High graduate who played at Weber State for two years before transferring to UH. He earned letters with the Warriors in 2008 and 2009. The Florida-Hawaii pipeline is still in operation. Stephen Yaffe, a kicker/punter from Plant High in Tampa, has joined the Warriors as a walk-on. The left-footed Yaffe is 6 feet and 180 pounds.
