Warriors open training camp

The Warriors’ training camp opens today with more than 100 players expected to report this afternoon. There will be medical examinations, orientation sessions, meetings and a speech from the team’s new character coach. The first practice starts at 6:30 tomorrow morning.

Maui native joins Warrior staff

Nick Rolovich has completed his staff with the hiring of Mikah Franz as intern for special teams. Franz is a 2012 Lahainaluna High graduate who earned a business degree at Washington. He worked under Washington assistant coach Keith Bhonapha, a former UH defensive back.

Training camp: No place like home

The training-camp lodging will feel like home to many UH football players. That’s because it will be home. Coach Nick Rolovich will allow players who don’t dorm during the year to live in their off-campus apartments and houses during training camp. The rest will stay in their dorm rooms. Vea is new video coordinator

Olivia “Oli” Vea is the Warriors’ new video coordinator. Vea, who succeeds Dory Kong, joined the Warriors as student manager in 2010. She eventually served as a graduate assistant and then video specialist. “Oli is a hard worker,” head coach Nick Rolovich said. “She’s very good in the department as far as getting things done and communication.
