By Stephen Tsai on December 2, 2016

Hawaii’s visitor count increased with the arrival of football prospects. There are 10 making official visits this weekend. * * * * * Every now and then, our good friend Jacky Buder texts with a giveaway T-shirt. OK, OK, Hawaii hasn’t officially been invited to the Hawaii Bowl, but who’s got time for little details like invitation notes? Anyway, Buder says to give away this Hawaii Bow(l) T-shirt (XL size): To enter our drawing, please post: I wanna go bowling! […]

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Eugene “The Dream” Ford, who plans to join the Warriors for the spring semester. Ford had signed with the Warriors on Feb. 3. Although he graduated from University High School in Los Angeles in June, he needed to clear some requirement issues to enroll at UH. “But we got it done, and we’re on our way,” Ford said. “I’ll be there for the beginning of the spring semester.” Ford, who is 6 feet […]

By Stephen Tsai on November 28, 2016

Marcus Kemp has come a long way since being Chris Gant’s backup who blocked the safety every other play as a freshman to becoming the 19th Warrior — and first since 2011 — to amass 1,000 receiving yards in a season. On Sunday night, he won the Alec Waterhouse Award as the Warriors’ most valuable player.

With a bowl a lock, time to restock

By Stephen Tsai on November 27, 2016

The UH coaches had little time to celebrate last night’s victory and presumptive bowl berth. The NCAA’s so-called contact period for recruiting began today. One UH coach is scheduled to depart this afternoon for international recruiting, and others will leave following tonight’s team banquet. The contact period, which allows home visits, runs through Dec. 11.

Game day: UMass

By Stephen Tsai on November 26, 2016

Our office numbers guy — Sjarif Goldstein — did the calculations and, carry the 3, it appears the Warriors will earn a bowl berth if they beat UMass on Senior Night at Aloha Stadium. But, hey, it doesn’t mean much unless the Warriors cut down on penalties and improve on their starts. Here’s a look at their opening drives: Fresno State: 3 plays, minus-5 […]
