Exit strategy

The past couple weeks, head coach Nick Rolovich conducted exit interviews with players who will be returning for the 2017 season. Now he has formulated an exit plan for mainland-raised players. Rolovich has arranged for a bus to take players to the airport following the Hawaii Bowl. For instance, wideout Marcus Kemp will be able to make his 10 p.m. direct flight to Salt Lake City. With final exams concluding and parts of the game plan already introduced, the Warriors will emphasize conditioning drills, meetings and video sessions today. This is part of the Warriors’ overall plan to train but yet keep fresh in advance of the Dec. 24 Hawaii Bowl. Manu Rasmussen, a defensive back from Riverside (Calif.) City College, has accepted a football scholarship from the University of Hawaii. Rasmussen said he will sign a letter of intent today, the first day mid-year transfers may put their commitments in writing. He will enroll at UH-Manoa in January. “It was the whole atmosphere there,” Rasmussen said of his decision. “I have a lot of family there. Nick Rolovich declared today’s practice as one of the “best since the UMass game.” “And it was an hour and 10 minutes,” Rolovich said. “We got a ton of work in. I liked the energy and tempo. QB Reilly transferring to Division II team

University of Hawaii quarterback Beau Reilly is transferring to Texas A&M-Kingsville. Reilly, who is taking final exams this week, his wife and their 14-month-old son will be moving on Thursday. They were celebrated in an emotional church service on Sunday. “I’m happy for him,” UH head coach Nick Rolovich said. “I think he’s going to get an opportunity to play.” Reilly initially signed with Colorado State in 2011.
