Former UH offensive tackle RJ Hollis will train in Hawaii ahead of the Warriors’ pro day in March. The decision allows Hollis to remain on football scholarship while working toward completing a bachelor’s degree in economics. “1 class left until I graduate,” Hollis texted to the Warrior Beat. Outside linebacker Jerrol Garcia-Williams, who graduated last month, also will remain in Hawaii while he recovers from thumb surgery. Garcia-Williams turned down an invitation to participate in this Sunday’s Tropicana Bowl. He […]

He also made three tackles on special teams. Kemp, who never redshirted, needs 20 credits to earn a degree in economics. After weighing several options, he decided to return to Manoa for the […]

Zwahlen, who had an amicable parting from UH last month, now will join Southern Utah as a walk-on this semester. Zwahlen was scheduled to visit Murray State yesterday. But the past Monday, Zwahlen said, “the head coach (Mitch Stewart) texted me saying, ‘Hey, we’ll talk tomorrow about it.” Zwahlen said on Tuesday he received a […]

School of hard knocks

A long time ago, Tina Turner took a nice little song by Creedence Clearwater Revival — “Proud Mary” — and declared: “You know, every now and then, I think you might like to hear something from us nice and easy. But there’s just one thing, you see, we never do anything nice and easy.” And that, of course, reminds me of some of the bad asses of UH sports. They weren’t bad people — the opposite, in fact, good family […]
