One more time

By Stephen Tsai on March 15, 2017

Yes, after you experience the party that is “Football Family Festivus” this Saturday, you’ll be itching for another scrimmage. The Warriors are listening. Nick Rolovich said the Warriors will end spring training with another scrimmage on Thursday, March 23. But, sorry, this scrimmage will not be accompanied with the Festivus-related activities. That 15th — and final — spring practice will begin at 7 p.m. There will be no admission charge for the scrimmage/practice (although there is a parking fee because […]

Corner the market

By Stephen Tsai on March 13, 2017

The rule of solving any puzzle is to start with the corners. And after taking double hits the past three seasons — Jerrell Jackson and Barry Higdon left after the 2014 season; Ne’Quan Phillips and Nick Nelson departed after 2015, and Jamal Mayo and Jalen Rogers graduated in December — the Warriors have done a good job rebuilding the corners this spring. There are 10 corners on the spring roster, although Tyrus Tuiasosopo is tending to personal matters and will […]

The other mid-year transfers have benefited from the Warriors’ earlier spring training. Wideout Marcus […]

> There was a bit of a scare when left tackle Dejon Allen was carted off the field because of an ankle injury. He was talented enough to receive an invitation to join one of the Harlem Globetrotters’ touring groups … as a high school senior. But then Gouveia met the woman who would become his soulmate. They married, and then raised five children on the Leeward […]

Spring practice No. 8

By Stephen Tsai on March 9, 2017

Another spring practice, another appearance by a former Warrior great. This time it was “Mighty Mouse”— Chad Owens — who gave the post-practice pep talk. The quarterbacks had a throwing contest in which they aimed for the trash bin. Nick Rolovich gave it a shot. > Rolovich video At the end of practice, there was the gauntlet drill used at combines. A player runs the width of the field while catching passes from each side. The running backs won, thanks […]
