Warriors work USC, Cal camps today

After successfully hosting its Elite Camp — 350 or so campers — the Warriors are reciprocating with their attendance at two camps on the mainland today. Offensive coordinator Brian Smith, special teams coordinator Mayur Chaudhari and defensive backs coach Abraham Elimimian are guest coaches at USC’s camp. Offensive line coach Chris Naeole and receivers coach Kefense Hynson are guest coaches at California’s camp. USC and Cal were among the teams that sent coaches to UH’s Elite Camp. Warriors’ Elite Camp

More than 350 high school-aged football players participated in the opening night of UH’s Elite Camp on the Manoa campus. They participated in drills and competitions on Ching field and at Les Murakami Stadium. The camp continues with two sessions today.

Warriors hire Nakama as intern

Former UH short-snapper Brodie Nakama has been named an intern for special teams, coach Nick Rolovich confirmed to the Star-Advertiser today. In December, Nakama completed a UH career in which he did not have an errant snap on 199 attempts. He assisted with the training staff the past spring semester while completing work on his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation science. He graduated in May. Nakama will assist special teams coordinator Mayur Chaudhari. Nakama succeeds Micah Franz, who now […]

Youth clinic hits the North Shore

The Warriors’ youth clinic was held this morning at Laie Park. Nice venue, nice folks, and some pretty impressive future Red Raiders. (There was a 6-year-old who fired a pass right into the garbage can/target on a rollout.) The tour continues this afternoon at Mililani High.

Warriors, Under Armour continue partnership

Athletic director David Matlin said the football Warriors and Under Armour will “continue” their apparel and footwear partnership. The Warriors and Under Armour initially agreed to an eight-year deal in February 2008. The deal was extended a year last year. 2 former Warriors sign pro deals in Germany

Two former Warriors — Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea and Makoa Camanse-Stevens — signed contracts to play in the German Football League. Kema-Kaleiwahea will play for the Colonge Crocodiles. Camanse-Stevens has joined the Stuttgart Scorpions. Both players are scheduled to arrive in Germany tomorrow. Their first games are on Sunday. “I’m excited for this opportunity,” said Kema-Kaleiwahea, who is projected to compete as a weak-side linebacker, rush end, running back, fullback and tight end.
