Despite a 10:25 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff, the University of Hawaii’s football game at Brigham Young drew 646,000 viewers late Saturday and early Sunday morning. The Nielsen numbers were reported by Show Buzz Daily. The Cougars won the nonconference game, 49-23, that was shown on ESPN2 for 3 hours 23 minutes. Although the schedule says the University of Hawaii isn’t booked to play Brigham Young again until 2024, they could be seeing each other a whole lot sooner. New rule: knees need coverage, too

A rule that officials working college football games will begin enforcing this season requires players’ pants to “completely cover the knees,” officials said. Rule 1-4-4-d advises that, “if an official discovers illegal equipment or if a player is not wearing mandatory equipment, the player must leave the game for at least one down and is not allowed to return until the equipment is made legal.” This includes knee pads and pants “completely covering the knees.” The rule was to have […]
