Athletic director Ben Jay said the moratorium on new construction projects at the University of Hawaii won’t affect progress on ongoing work and renovation initiatives on lower campus. “Right now the moratorium deals with new construction,” Jay said in a text message today (Tuesday). “I’m assuming for now it does not include renovation. University of Hawaii athletic director Ben Jay was released from Straub this evening (Tuesday). I’m in Greenbelt, Md., today, and thinking of a great athlete from Hawaii who made his mark here in the Washington, D.C. area as a professional. Karl Lorch played defensive line for the Washington NFL team from 1976 to 1981. Many of you know K.P. passed away in late September at age 63, after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service has been set for this Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Kamehameha School Chapel, from noon to 4 p.m.
