A fundraiser to help Jeremy Ioane is scheduled for May 3, 1 to 4 p.m. at Murphy’s Bar & Grill. Ioane is the Hawaii all-state high school athlete and college football player who played his last two seasons at Boise State and graduated while battling an auto-immune disease that decimated his kidney function. Former Honolulu mayor Mufi Hannemann is not among the candidates for University of Hawaii athletic director. “I did not apply and I am not a candidate,” Hannemann told me in a phone conversation Sunday evening.
