Hawaii volleyball: Guilherme Voss Big West Freshman of the Week; SandBows release schedule

Hawaii middle Guilherme Voss was named Big West Freshman of the Week, the first time in three Big West seasons a UH player has won the award. Voss had three kills on .400 hitting with a dig and a block in Friday’s season opener against Charleston. The Brazilian followed that with two kills on .667 hitting with three blocks in another sweep of Charleston on Saturday. Hawaii women’s volleyball: Teee Williams, Charlie Brande among Southern California Indoor Hall of Fame inductees

Happy New Year Teee Williams-Slacanin, the AVCA Player of the Year in 1987 and (co) 89, as well as Dave Shoji’s former assistant Charlie Brande are among the 15 who will be inducted into the Southern California Indoor Volleyball Hall of Fame in May. Hawaii has sold over 2,100 season-ticket packages so far, the most since 2005 when they had 2,310. Hawaii women’s volleyball: Hanna Hellvig, Amber Igiede honored by VolleyballMag.com

Complete story click here Congrats to Hanna Hellvig, and Amber Igiede named to VolleyballMag.com’s Freshman All-America Team. Hellvig is one of 14 All-America first team, and Igiede one of 45 honorable mentions. Cal State Fullerton’s outside hitter Julia Crawford and UC Santa Barbara opposite Tallulah Froley were the only other players from the Big West to be recognized, both earning honorable mention honors. Also named to the All-America team was Pitt setter Lexis Akeo (Kamehameha).
